I have a 2000 gmc sierra that has 152,000 miles also it hasbeen given me problems that i can't figure out. Like i have just got a brand new alternator and a new battery. It will start up but the voltage guage stays between the 9 and 12 and eventually drops, then my truck dies. Some of the peoplethat i have talked to saidit mightbethe ingectors, orthe resistor but im not for sure. This has not ben occuring just once either. It would be my 3rd batterya3rd alternator, though i know for afact that they are not the problem.Just wanting to know if anyone could help mesolve my problem.

 

it dies...does it restart?..do you have to jump it off?...it run doqwnm the road ok?

 

check all your wiring.

 

It started up today when i went to crank it. The other night though when i pulled into my driveway it died. When im driving down theroad the batter lightstays on andmydash lights and every thing eventually fade to where your guages dont work. I havent jumped it off because i know it wouldnt helpit cause i have anew battery. And i had everything tested at autozone andmy alternator and battery arefine.

 

check the connection at that red plastic box the battery cable passes thru...i've seen thos corrode under that big nut and not let the amps get to the battery

 

I have already checked it and it is secured tightly on to the bolt.

 

but make sure its not corroded..take the nut off and check...

and make sure your getting 12v to the alternator on the big wire and at the little connector
