I have an 03 Sierra single cab, step side with the 4.8Liter. What would it take to make it as fast or faster than a Hemi ram? Haven't raced one so don't know what the comparison is like but I'm sure I couldn'ttake one right now. Think with the ECU reprogram I could?

Not with the program alone, but a few other mods as well and you should be good to go. (intake and exhaust)

 

Cool. I plan to get the ECU reprogrammed as soon as I can sell my Xbox 360. I'm gonna get one of those throttle body spacers too. Already got exaust and I did the free intake mod with K&N which helped a lot.

 

i got a throttle body spacer and injector spacer from cfm-tech. its made a huge improvment for only $120.

 

I dont know about the throttle body spacer. I have heard that they are not worth the money. Just a little gain of HP with a lot of money spent!!!

 

That's what everyone I've talked to locally said. But these guys all seem to agree that spending $50-60 on the trans-dapt tbs is a good deal.

 

My buddy has an old Ford with a 351 cleveland which we built to blow the doors off of the new Hemi Rams. It took quite a bit of mods but we did it. Your best bet (for money vs. power) is a light shot of Nitrous Oxide. Otherwise you need a list of mods for 4.8 or 5.3. A 6.0 will take the Hemi with exhaust, headers, intake, TBS, and a tune of some kind. A 5.3 will need more I'm sure. A good test is to do your mods then try to keep pace with a 4.6 Mustang (thats what we did). A stock 4.6 mustang will take a stock Hemi in a drag. Pace the stang = beat the Hemi.

 

the trans dapt is TBS is definately worth it. I gained 1 full second, and increased milage. Also my truck ran all over hemi's after just the intake and headers, they don't even try now.

 

I'd love to see your truck on the dyno Smoke. I can't get the Hemi Rams yet, but 99 - 2000 5.3 are only 270hp. Yours is 295 stock I think. But 72charger has a lighter truck but only 270hp himself. He might need more mods then that. What are the Hemi's rated at anyway?
