Default catback system

I was just wondering what everyone paid for their catback systems ? I am gonna price around but the shop where i bought the truck does custom pipe bending/exhaust systems, and they told me, the whole system from catalytic converter back, fully welded, no clamps, and i believe they use magnaflow mufflers, but not sure. Installed, $399.00. Thats 1 into 2, just unsure whether i want it to exit outthe back, on each side of the spare or dump out on both sides, behind the mudflaps. I want something that will rumble, but not BLAAAAT, when accelerating, but just a mellow sound at idle. I have the 4.8L with the K&N FIPK. Any suggestions on mufflers? Another question, when its 1 into 2, do they use 1 or 2 mufflers? Thanx for any input, Jim

275 in florida with any exit and two tips of my choice. 1 in to two means a single pipe in to the muffler and two pipes out.

I'm kinda leanin towards having the pipes exit straight out the back, on each side of the spare. I wonder if it would cost me $120.00 in gas down to Floridaand back? LOL I get about 16 mpg average, so on a long trip, i should get 18 mpg........

I paid $240 for my exhaust. They just cut the factory muffler off, welded a Super 40 Flowmaster in it's place and ran the duals out the right side in front of the back right tire like the Ford Lightnings are set up. This setup is louder than running it out the back cause the pipes end about a foot out of the muffler. I love the way it sounds..... it's really great for ticking off old farts when I pass them poking along 5 under the speed limit, LOL!

I paid 275 for my exhaust and I have a Flowmaster super 40 and 3 inch duals out the back. I like the sound low rumble at idle and agressive but not "pulp wood truck" sounding when leaving the red light.

What would be the best set up/brand to get the rumble without annoying me on the highway? Oh, and without killing too much torque. Maybe single in dual 2.5 inch pipes so I don't loose the torque?

if you can find one (they're out of business according to my muffler shop), my ravin muffler is silent cruising down the highway, but a little louder than a flow 40 when i get on it (this is when i had catalytic converters... take those off and all bets are off)... as far as the pipe size i have stock in dual 2.5 out and i didn't notice any lost torque

I got flow master 40's, angled out on both sides. It's got a great sound, a nice rumble to know it's there cruising, and really powerful sounding when I drop a gear or 2 and punch it. Well also set off the occasional car alarm when fired up . I'd go with 40's they are proven, and aren't super expensive, I paid $250.00 in 2002, other people recently are saying 270-280 so it's still damn good.

mellow tone mufflers are great for the low rumble 50's hot rod sound. that's what my wife is buying me for christmas.
