i have a 2005 gmc sierra, i want to mount a cb but any spot on the dash is kinda in the way, mine is stick shift, is there a metal plate above my head liner or will the screws go directly through the roof? i dont really want to find out the hard way, or is there any other options to go with?

 

What I did was I placed a thin piece of wood under the liner and used that to drill into.

 

Your best bet, and safest way, is to take your Head Liner down and check it out.
Most trucks have a double skin. Inner body skin, and outer body panel. With 2 or 3 reenforcing rails.

 

i just might take the linear out, its just every time i take somethin off this truck like that, i end up bustin those stupid plastic clips or whatever else is plastic,

when i put a new head liner on my 88 fro i sold it i broke all of the clips poff the faom i just used the 3m headliner spray glue and glued it up wher it should be
