Default the chevy is rebelling

Well I'm just starting 3 weeks vacation and was going to get
the boat.
on the way there I hear a load pop in the front driver side almost like a spring wound to tight.
Could also feel a bit in the steering wheel.
So I turn around and jack er up in the drive way and I got about a 1/2 inch
of slop side to side up and down when i push and pull on the wheel.
No Play on the passenger side.

I think its prolly the wheel bearing they are all still original
Damn long weekend and I can't get in the water.
guess I'm waiting a little bit longer to get the boat out.

DAMN !!! That suck right at the beginning of the long weekend. Not a cheap fix. Not unless you have a press.

You can buy the bearing (Cheap) and press it into the hub... or pay a little more and replace the hole bear hub.
Hope your weekend gets better. Suppose to harm up by Monday

Well hold on here, what kind of truck do you have? 2wd or 4wd, and what year? It could also be something else, make sure it isn't your ball joints or bushings bad.

Have a helper wiggle the tire just like you did when you found the play, and lay under it and look at it and find exactly what parts are moving.

2wd means you have some options, you can buy new bearings and brake rotors so you get new races inside the rotors already, you take your rotors to a shop and have them press new races in for you assuming your spindles aren't damaged.

4wd pretty much means you're looking at new wheel hub bearings which are pretty expensive. Sorry to hear about your trouble right before a boating trip! That sucks!

its a 2003 LS Z71 190000KM
Ya pretty sure its the bearing
when I had it jacked up and wiggling I didnt see anything else out of the
ordinary.
it makes wicked noise especially when going slow
if I speed up it will go away. scary
Im afraid of wrecking everything else in there.
why is it expensive dont you just get a bearing hub asm?
remove wheel,brakes and hub asm.
Or is that simpliying it.
Hardest part will probably getting those stupid hubs off
or maybe the drive shaft out??
I dont have any
air tools and they have been on there 10yrs

I see you can get a hub bearing for around 150-200.

My passenger one has been humming a while never heard my driver one
make a sound guess i midas well change both.....

put 3800 in the chevy this yr
tranny rebuild all 4 brakes done (including new rear calipers)
changed diff fluid front and back
whats another
500-1000...
still cheaper then a new one I think....lol

Yeah $150-$200 sounds about right for a new hub bearing. And yeah, the hardest part will be separating the bearing from the steering knuckle and pushing the axle shaft through the center of the bearing. Use big hammers and pinpoint precision.

Unfortunately, because your driver side bearing has separated, the only thing keeping your wheel on is your brake rotor ... you could possibly have damaged your brand new brakes

Inspect them carefully and go get 'em! I'd say replace both bearings.
