Angry cooling problem

Ok this is what's up, while i'm going down the interstate my truck will try to run hot this has happened to me twice. Here is a list of things i have done:new water pump, heater core, and a new thermostat, what could be causing this?? I've never seen this happen before. Any thing i could try to fix this right? (in the cheepest way possiable) Tks

I would recheck that thermostat make sure it is installed right. When it doesn't seat well, coolant will circulate all the time and its hard to cool down fluid in the radiator when its always moving.

Is it only on the interstate or around town as well? You say "try to run hot" how hot does it get and for how long? Was it doing it before the t-stat change?

It only does it on the interstate. The first time it happened i was pulling a trailer up the interstate and i looked down and saw that it was on the large dash mark between the 210 and 260 on the temp gauge, under no load it will run about i'd say a good 20 miles before it try's to go over the 210 mark. Ill pull off on the side of the road, turn the heat on, let it idle and it goes back down to running temp. I've put two t-stat's in er and it's still trying to do it. Could it be possible that i got two bad t-stats??

that's a good point but if you have ever done a t-stat on that type motor the thermostat is made into the housing. so i highly doubt that could be the problem.

I would have a radiator shop check the radiator to see if it is flowing properly or you can check it yourself. It sounds like a radiator issue to me. Let us know what you find.

Oh yeah I forgot. I never replace the whole housing on mine. Its been a while since I bought one. I fabricate mine especially to what ever temp I want it.

Take your thermostat off and see if its working ok. Put it in a pot of cool water on the stove. Put a candy thermometer in there and turn up the heat. A 190 temp thermostat will usually open around 200. Then close at 190.
