It's a shift servo from a corvette that you put in your tranny and it helps the shifting. That's the short answer, basically it stiffens up the shifting from 1 to 2 and a little better from 2-3. I've read that different people felt different results. I did it after much thought and I have not regretted it yet. I will honestly say it was the best 20 bucks I've spent on my truck in along time.

What exactly is a servo?? How do they hook up or bolt on or whatever else they do, for 20 dollars I might think about it on my truck

It's a little piston basicly, the oil pressure in the tranny pushes on the piston and it in turn pushes on another rod that pushes on the apply clutches. It's way more than I need to understand. The servo itself is on the right hand side of the tranny and the cover for it looks about the size of a snuff can. It is held in place by a snap ring, take the snap ring and cover off and then the servo comes out.Tell you what, go here:

http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/inde...howtopic=85966 one of our members has a good description of it and its worth reading. He even has pics. Hope this helps you and doesn't just confuss the heck out of you. It's not really hard to do trust me I'm an engineer and I was able to do it.

Not really a certain year you look for. Its only one type. The next step up is a billet servo which has even more surface area. But unless you are putting out about 600 plus horses the corvette servo will do fine. What they dont show you in the videos is when to use a vice to compress the piston to take the c clip off. But it is explained really well in the instructions.
