Default Diablo Sports Predator Tune

Just received my Predator Tune today. Didn't know anything about custom tunes until after i found this forum and I had already ordered the Predator.

in any case, I installed the Super 87 tune to start off with to see what gains I will receive. I may do the higher octane tune later if I am satisfied with the Predator.

That's not a custom tune, correct?

I'd say it's a generic upgrade tune for my specific model truck.better than the default factory settings, but probably not as good as a tune specifically designed for what i want accomplished with what I have already done to my truck.. something like that

It doesn't allow you to adjust the WOT timed delay does it? That would be cool. That's really what I want modified on mine the most. Anyway, would you say the power gains were worth the investment?

I definately feel more HP and torque.. Don't know what the change in numbers are though..I should know if I get more MPG after this tank of gas is done. If I did the Premium Octane Tune, the change would be somewhere around 20-30 RWHP..It's less with the 87 Octane Tune that I uploaded.

Below is what I can do to my vehicle, however, I don't know what specific changes were made when I uploaded the 87 Octane tune..

I looked at most of the Tuners.. The reviews from most of them lead me to the Diablo Sports Predator.. Besides having a phone number to call, they have a forum section that their techs actually respond too. Most of the other programmers had lots of bad reviews from many different websites.. The tune that I installed took about 5 minutes and worked without a hitch..

PS.. I changed my login name

Dang. I didn't realize you could do all that with em! Can't be too much better than a custom tune then. I'm sure a custom tune still is better but you have a ton of options there. It even allows you to adjust that thing I wanted to turn off which it calls torque management. That's cool. Now if it didn't cost the same as a custom tune I'd probably buy one, LOL!

so how does this work? do you just plug it into your computer, or is it a new computer? if it just plugs in i may go with one of these instead of the custom tune

Im jealous. My Hypertech Programmer only does half of that but I got it for $200 so Im not bitching. One problem I had was that I couldn't find anything for my truck that would modify the Torque Management (99' 5.3). Anyone know for sure what years the Torque Management was used? Other than that mine doesn't have electric fans or anything. Here is what my Hypertech can do:
- Clear Error Codes
- Read Error Codes
- Tune for 87 octane
- Tune for 91+ octane
- Increase Rev Limiter up to 6000 rpm (Chevy says the 5.3 is at peak hp at 5500)
- Change Speed Governor to either 97mph, 115mph or 128mph.
- Tune for Alternate Fuels (Not exactly sure if that means E85 or something else)
- Change in tire size +/-
- Change in gear ratio +/-
- Shift Firmness to Performance or Normal
- Shift points in mph for 1 to 2, 2 to 3 and 3 to 4.
- Tune tranny for Shift Kit (if you have one installed)
Max output rating for 91 octane tune is about 15hp on a completely bone stock truck. If you use 93 octane you get 17hp. (Thats all that is available around here is 87, 89, or 93).
