Anyone know about diesel programmers? I have read some, and I am thinking about the banks pda (I already have the PDA) but am willing to listen to others, especially with the cost of the banks.

I dont know anything about those or others for that matter but I hear that there is a lot to be gained on those diesels with a good programer/chip. I have a buddy with a F-350 and I want to say he has like six different settings with his and it goes up to like an extra 100hp. I think.

The six stage tuner is the Banks 6 Pack I believe. Supposed to be one of the best.

Bank's is good, but from what I hear they are overrated. However, if you go with Bank's and get the full Big Hoss Bundle it is fairly safe with all the monitoring the system does. If you want to go a little cheaperyoucan go with a PPE tuner, monitor your own EGT, and trans temp and just know to keep your foot out of it if the temps get too high. EDGE makes a pretty good tuner too.

Edge and Bully dog are the others that are really common to have people take about. I have been reading the Diesel Power Magazine for about a year. Banks makes the best products and keeps your DPF from getting clogged up. The Banks power pack (CAI with ram air, 4" DPF back exhaust and module that workes with the PDA) will give you like 100 Hp and 230 FT on the highest setting. Plus you get free PDA updates.

The others I will have to look more into to be able to give you the quotes on thier power gain ratings. With the Banks you get "Clean, Safe Power". At least that is what they say, but they all saythat now with the new DPF.

If you want to look into it your self, check out dieselpowermag.com

Good luck on your choice.

I really need good head to head info. If I am going to spend $800 I need to make sure I spend it wisely. I think the Banks Big Hoss setup is the way to go, but I will have to piece it out. Just hate to make a mistake at that cost.

Like I said, take your time and make sure you will get what you want out of it. And what ever you do, do not destroy the DPF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a big fan of the Bully Dog with Outlook monitor, as well as the Edge Juice with Attitude myself. I agree Banks you're paying too much for the name. That isnt to discredit the product/brand. I just feel they're too expensive compared to the other brands for what you get.

My Master plan: I would put on the Banks Big Hoss Bundle with the duel exhaust and the super scoop. I would also include the Flex plate and torque converter. I would get a set of Eaton E-lockers and a Pac brake exhaust brake. I would also install a Waste Vegitable Oil system for those long hauls and for great fuel econ. I would also have to seriously consider puttinga soft ride susp lift for about 4". But I don't know if I would do it because of the wife and kids. My wife is only 4'11", so I cannot go too high! I would probably just do a leveling kit, and put on some 33's. And then to top it off, add some nurf bars and a bumper like hunts new truck then some bags out back.

So that is what I would do if I had that truck. Now if you ask me what I would do if I had enough money and wanted to go sled pulling, that would be whole nother response!

If you have any more questions let me know.
