My axle seal just went out and just filled it back up wit 75w-90 synthetic gear oil. This is whats recommended by chevy.

The newer ones (99 and up) need synthetic but the older rear ends use conventional. If you have a limited slip or a posi you will needan additive.

RE: differential oil
I want to change mine soon as well. How is this done? Pull the cover, replace seal and refill?

Mine had a drain plug at the very bottom (looks just like the filler plug). Otherwise, yes you need to remove the cover and get yourself a new gasket.

Mine was really easy. I have a drain plug at the very bottom and a plug thats on the upper half. It just depends on the rear diff you have.
