Hi everyone I have a 94 gmc serria 1/2 ton with 4.3 tbi and 4l60e and 8.5 10 bolt with 3.08 gears.I recently aquired a complte axle and housing with the same kinda of carrier as my 94.Its open 8.5 10 bolt with 3.42 gears.The housing is completely shot by rust where the bottom of it sat in mud for over a year.So I want to do a carrier assembly swap and install the 3.42 in place of my 3.08.I have all the parts neccasary,new shims,crush sleave,pinion seal and new bearings and races.I never done a carrier swap before and need some advice in getting through this.So has anyone here done this and can you lead me in what direction I need so i can do this swap?Thanks Aaron

Thanks but not realy My housing is still in the truck with the bad carrier.Also the axles dont come out of differential housing.Im hoping to do this whiule its still on the truck if possible.
