Default Doing away with Cat. converters

Has anyone done this on an 04 silverado with the 4.8? id like to do this, and what is needed to do so? I live in South Georgia, so no need to worry about emission laws.
Thanks
Sean

I wouldn't do that. You need backpressure for torque. If you remove the cat and put a high flow muffler on there your gonna be a DOG off the line. I put a single in/ dual out Flowmaster Super 40 on my GMC with the 4.8 and I still lost a little torque.

yeah, i cut my cats off and my truck is slower off the line... i wouldn't call it a dog, as its still faster than stock, but w/e... anyway, it sounds absolutely wicked, so im leaving mine off as i live in rural west tn and dont worry about emissions

I believe ill just leave it alone. I already have 40 series on it and plan on getting some headers at the end of the month. Im looking for power off the line, so i think ill leave them on.

Good call. That's what I'm doing to mine next. I was looking at headers for our trucks on Summit Racing. They are much cheaper on there! I found a really nice set of Gibson short tube headers for $450! There are some even cheaper but I wanted to read the magic words, "increases low and mid rance power" and that's what Gibson said their's are for. Banks makes another real good set but they are $550 in my Truckin' magazine. They call them TorqueTubes. Supposed to be a great low end power mod but why spend the extra $100?
