RE: Dual Exhaust
Hey smoke, i happened to read your last reply and not quite sure what you were referencing to when you said now spazinout has to keep the rpm's above 3,000 and no more towing. I plan on going to a catback system eventually, am i missing something? I'll still be able to tow right? Sorry for having something go right over my head............. Jim

RE: Dual Exhaust
chevyrules - MrLM7 is right, if you open it up too much like I did then you loose alot of low end torque. But I was able to put some reducers on and get it back. It really depends on the motor yo uhave. I recommend if you have the 5.7, true dual , x-pipe 2.5 " pipe. If you have the 5.3, leave in your Y-pipe, then use a single in dual out muffler if you want duals. With the reducers my truck tows much better now. I still plan on getting the adjustable exhaust valves if the supercharger doesn't work out.

RE: Dual Exhaust
They are just standard reducers from an autoparts store. I have 2 on each side right now that take it from 2.5" down to 1 3/4". It helped alot. I tried reducing it to 1 1/4", but lost some milage andtop end power, so I am going to take the new reducers off and go to 1 1/2".

RE: Dual Exhaust
I partial to having it behind the wheels angled down, but thats just me.
Its definitly worth swapping the muffler if the tubing is already big enough 'cuz the stock mufflers are designed to be quiet so therefore there is restriction and a loss of power. Whatever you do dont go too big, I had a Dakota with the 3.9 V6 and I put dual 2 1/2's on it, it sounded awesome but at the low end ( below 2,500 rpm) i lost a good amount of power, plus the cops didnt like it too much...
