Default electric problems 89 silverado

My truck has developed problems with the wiper controls. The wipers run uncommanded and it now requires removal of the fuse to stop them at times. This truck hsa a lot of miles (257K) and I would like to know if it is feasable to replace the wiper control on the column, can I do it myself or does it require special tools and knowledge? Thanks

Default switches

I just spliced the wire and ran 2 switches to it. I have one for regular and one for high wiper speeds. Just switch them on and off when you dont need them. the same happened to me this past fall.

Those had a common issue of the control board in the motor going out. They are fairly cheap. You can try removing yours and cleaning all the connections, but usually that is a temporary repair. I think they are available in the help section of your local APS.
