The annual subscription can be pricey and if you don’t use these applications routinely it won’t be worth it. It seems that many of them will let you have a 72 hour access period for any where between the $10 and $30 range.
Check with your local library to see if they have subscriptions to any of these resources. If you have a library card you could go in and look at these for free. You might even be able to log in to the library from home and access the resources.
