I have recently purchased a 2008 Silverado 1500 with a 4.8L engine, 56K miles when I bought it in July and has just over 60K miles now. I have twice come across incidents of the engine continuing to run after shutting off the ignition and removing the key. I don't mean run as in dieseling, I mean running at a full idle. The latest incident was today when I took the truck to have the oil changed. When they finished they handed me the key and when I got to the truck it was locked, in park with the emergency brake set, and running.

The only way I can get the engine to stop, apart from starving it of fuel and air, is to put the key back in, turn it to ON, and take the truck for a short drive. After that it shuts off just fine.

Anyone have this happen to their vehicle?
