Engine locked up
going down a trail last night, a puddle was much deeper than it appeared. my truck cut off, and when i tried to restart it (first bad idea) it clicked once. completely locked up.
let it sit overnight, i pulled the plugs today and water ran out of the cylinders. i went to get new plugs and when i came back (over an hour later) it tried to turn over maybe once and then locked again.
is there anything else i can do or am i basically done?

You can try turning it over by hand with the plugs removed to get the water out. Then change the oil. You might even want to put some PB blaster or something similar in the cylinders (through the park plug hole) and spin it over by hand. I would forget about replacing the plugs until you can get the motor to turn over easily by hand. Keep working the motor back and forth to get it to spin over (again by hand - big breaker bar on the crank nut). If it does free up you will want to then put the plugs back in and try and start it. If it starts let it run for a few minutes and change the oil again and repeat until the oil comes out clean. Probably 2 or 3 oil changes will get it all out. Good luck!
Once you are able to turn the motor over the water should come out of the spark plug holes anyway. So I would be concerned with getting some kind of lubricant to counteract the water. The rest should be in the bottom end and should slowly come out with oil changes. If you get to it quickly it shouldn't do much harm.
oh yes... started the tear down tonight (horrible weather prevented me from retrieving the truck other than pulling the plugs) and there's dirty water standing in the intake... this is going to get ugly i have a bad feeling...
and btw... getting a stock airbox.

Dang, that sucks. I hope you can get it running soon. I don't think you have a bent rod from the sound of it. One, you were probably just idling before the engine died. Two, you were able to crank it over "maybe once" so if there was a bent rod I don't think it would even do that. Just take all of Mr_Shamrock's advice and you'll do fine.
At the time being I understand what it's like to be stranded. I had a seizure last week caused by some medicine I was prescribed so I can't drive for the next 3 months at least. Luckily, I wasn't driving so I didn't hurt anyone else.
Let us know when you get that truck running. Best of luck!

Really sorry to hear that. I keep hearing more and more about doctors prescribing the wrong meds for people. I had one about 8 years ago prescribe me the wrong stuff and it sent me to the E.R. I was only in there for about 8 hours and received a very nice $12,000 bill and the kicker was I was in the middle of changing insurance companies and it wasn't covered. If I was like most I would have sued, but I didn't. Dam crooks!!!! Hope your back in the saddle soon man!
