Engine locked up
well... i've removed the plugs, pulled the intake off, filled it up with oil, let it dry, and tried like hell to turn it over and it still keeps catching in this one spot... looks like the motor's gotta come out
If I had to guess; if there is no water in the cylender then you have a bent valve and it is hitting the top of the piston. That is probably what is binding in that one spot. Or it is what the others on here have already said, and if you have a bent rod you will be looking for a master rebuild kit. OR a 6.0L!! (I would just buy a used 6.0)
Really sorry to hear that. I keep hearing more and more about doctors prescribing the wrong meds for people. I had one about 8 years ago prescribe me the wrong stuff and it sent me to the E.R. I was only in there for about 8 hours and received a very nice $12,000 bill and the kicker was I was in the middle of changing insurance companies and it wasn't covered. If I was like most I would have sued, but I didn't. Dam crooks!!!! Hope your back in the saddle soon man!
So it just keeps catching in the same spot? A valve could be the problem, but I think pulling the heads off would be the best thing to do since you're already so far into it without pulling the motor yet. Unless you do come across a good 6.0 lol, then I vote for that. Best of luck!
Be better off throwing a 6.0 or LS1 motor in what you have! Which I bet thats what that person is planning on doing after the trade. Trust me it will be better power, gas mileage, more dependable and durability. Carb'd is fine except for always tuning it according to weather changes.
Sorry to hear about the rods. Had a feeling that was going to be the outcome when you said it would roll over to a point and stop. I would look for a good used motor as well.
i thought about doing that, but a used motor around here goes for about 800 dollars, and i'd still be driving a 2wd truck. i plan on getting an ls1 firebird in about three months, so whatever truck i have will not be a daily driver. a k5 fits into my plans, and it wont cost me money right now...
Go with the Blazer now if you are not planning on using it for the daily driver for very long. The blazer will be a good all around off road vehicle. (Unless you have a specific goal in mind, ie: rock crawling, desert racing, ect)
