Default engine swap ideas?

ok i know that there are plenty of places to find this information but im just looking for somemore. i want to put an ls6 into my 00 1500, and my question is will it take more money to do than it is worth? or will it be an easy swap? obviously i'll need the wiring harness and the ECU. if the LS6 is a bad idea what would be a good alternate to use? GMPP has the 5.3L HO that i am also considering and it has 332hp/352ft lbs of tq and i can use all of the upgrades i already have. plus it'll have 120,000 miles less than the one that is in my truck. i also intend to put a procharger kit on as well as heads, headers, intake, and throttle body.i want to use the LS6 because of the parts available for it, but i like the 5.3 b/c i know that it will go right in. any help or other ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys.

Ive heard that LS style engines just drop into our trucks with no problems (since our Vortec motors are LS variants) and the LS6 would be a killer motor though if you plan to use your same tranny then your going to have to rebuild it in order to handle the TQ/HP. Really either way you go your going to be spending a bit of money.

damn, i wasnt expecting that much. its a little more than i wanted to put in just that aspect of my build. it would be a sweet truck after, but i i cant have my cake and eat too i guess. well i was told that LS6 heads and intake manifolds fit my motor, is there any truth to that? i don't want to shell out $1800 for the parts and find out after opening them that they don't fit. it's kinda hard to get my money back after they're opened, especially if i've tried to put them on already.

they are supposed to fit. its the same block. It may cost a lot to install if you dont do it yourself. Also, dont be surprised if problems arise from this down the road. I always hate the idea of tearing into the engine.

yeah, the only reason i came up with the idea is b/c i want to add a blower and i think that with the 120k miles she's got i'll blow it up when i least expect it or seriously tear some **** up. and i figured if i was going to get a new motor why not go bigger? thinking about the go big or go home saying got me on to it.

Find a donor motor and rebuild it with a 4 bolt main and you can pump 20 lbs in it. Continue to drive with the motor you have until it's done.

that would be your best bet if you got a little bit of garage space you could fit a motor into to work onto.
