have you given glasspacks a thought? theyre extremely affordable and are just about the best of both.
[sm=badidea.gif] He is trying to create back pressure in order to regain low-end hp/torque. Glasspacks are a hell of a lot less restrictive than Flowmasters. A glasspack is a straight through design, the flowmaster is not. The problem is that he has true duals and headers which in turn makes exhaust escape very quickly. The solutions to this problem are simple, butVERYexpensive. Since exhaust is escaping rapidly, you have to compensate with more air, i.e. force induction with a supercharger or such. A certain amount of backpressure is imperative for scavenging of the cylinders, especially in the GEN III motors. You really didn't have to worry about this bull**** with the 5700 series. I've never heard of anyone losing as much low-end power as he has, but I do believe his word...

I spoke with PCMforless today, and they said a custom tune would get alot of lowend back. He would adjust the spark curve.

Also as a side note, I found that as well as the torque management bull**** we have, there is also something called power enrichment delay, that delays the fuel for 2 secs after you floor it to help save parts. So definately rolling into the gas is goint to be better than flooring it for accelleration. He can adjust that out as well. Sounds like time for a reprogram to me.

Got more info. It appears I did really well freeing up my exhhaust. When I use tow/haul mode my tuck does great. Tows my boat much better. So there must be some timing advance with that on. So when I get the reprogram done, I should be in great shape.

Yep, I have to agree with you there. I miss working on a engine you can "actually" work on.

exhaust update:

I put some reducers on the end of my pipes decreasing it down to 3" total and holy **** the power off the line. I can spin the tires at a little over half throttle. I lost a little of the high end power I had by doing this though. So, I am going to get the manual exhaust valves to get the best of both worlds. So if anybody finds a good price let me know.
