Default Exhaust

New member here with a question: I have a 2004 GMC Sierra with the 5.3 liter and I am wonder which of the 2, a shortyvs. a long tube header is thebest? And which brand out there is recommended? Ceramic vs. titech etc...
Also on another note in conjunction with the headers which would be the way to go: Going and having my Y-pipe cut and made into a true dual exhaust or just the regularmuffler back then dualed out the rear? I am looking for the pros and cons. example: loss of too much back pressure will ruin my gas mileage, etc...

Best bang for the buck:

Shorty headers and cat back exhaust

Best Performance:

Long tube headers to H pipe then true duals out the rear. You'll need a tune to get the full hp and mpg out of this.

Is there a H-pipe made for the 99 to 2004 5.3Liters? I have not seen one. What brand Long tube headers are you recommending?

IMHO shorties dont do anything more than stock. You would be wasting your money. Long tubes are the way to go. If your going to do it, do it right, and you will be happy you did.

From what I have read in the forum the long tube Pacesetter headers are not worth the money. So are the pacesetters worth the money or not or is there another brand? Also I do not have the egr on my truck. So does the pacesetters come without the soar thumb tube that sticks off the side?
