Default exhaust cut outs

2000 silvy, 5.3

Sounds kick ***, but is it even feasable with the backpressure issue?

on the newer engines "4.8 5.3 6.0" You need a certain amount of backpressure to run right. Smoke put true duals with a crossover on his pickup and had to add restrictors later because it didnt have enough backpressure, and i would think this thing would have the same prob, unless of course he is doin it just to uncap em in town and give people a show, and not for any performance related activity whatsoever

The idea is when your racing it, once it is up to highway speed backpressure doesn't matter. You leave them closed when launching and at about 45-50 I'd say, you open er' up which makes for more breathing which makes for more top end power!

Just watched the video and that guys truck sounds like garbage! I'd have to say it is definitely not for impressing anyone.[&:]

depends on what you call "impressive"... i know a guy that used to drive a z71 with what he called "true duals"... he had two completely separate pipes with no cats or mufflers... no x-pipe, no h-pipe, nothing... made lots of racket but sounded like straight poop... but the noise level was impressive, i guess

and btw if you listen close in the video you can hear the truck doesn't idle right with the cutout... its trying to die on him... so i guess the lack of backpressure is hurting him

Did he do the cutout before or after the cat? I couldn't really see but either way he could be causing the O2 sensor to get ticked off.
