Default Exhaust Question

OK guys I am about to do some more performance stuff to my truck. I found a deal on intake and predator tuners online. I am going to get that and go to the local predator tuner shop and have them do a custom dyno tune for the tuner. Also I have found some pretty good deals on shorty headers that I am going to get also. My truck already has a cat back with Flowmasters on it. I really want to get an off-road x-pipe or h-pipe. To date I have not been able to find one for our trucks anywhere. I would really like some help in this department. If anyone knows a place online that sells the x-pipes please let me know. I want to get rid of my cats bad, don't have to worry about emissions since it is registered in TN.

I'd leave the exhaust alone and just throw a single in/ dual out muffler on there. You need all the backpressure you can get for torque. Removing the cats is stupid. Not to mention it'll probably turn the check engine light on permanently.

if its 4.8 or 5.3 i'd ditch the x-pipe/h-pipe idea, you'll lose too much of the line. i cut my cats off my 02 and my s.e.s. light comes on intermittently (sp?) but it doesn't affect mileage or power. i losta little bit off the line but man it sounds wicked when i goose it..

The truck is an 01 extended cab Z71. It has a 6" suspension lift and 35's. It has true duals but still has cats on each side. I have a solution to the check engine light coming on, that would be the false reading sensor for the o2 sensor for the cat. I am not extremely worried about the backpressure for the torque anyway. I mean with the lift and tires I don't really have much off the line anyway. I am just looking to open the exhaust up a little more with the headers and I want to get rid of the cats for the sound basically.

oh... well in that case go for it because mine sounds awesome without the cats... does way more than cutting off the mufflers does as far as sound level and how much it roars at you

ok since you have this done, where did you get yourget your x-pipe or did you just cut the cats off and replace it with piping? i would rather find an off road x-pipe or y-pipe to go from the shorty headers i am getting down to where the cat back starts. I may just have to bite the bullet and get the whole exhaust redone.

Here is the one I got:

I like the fact that it is built strong, but I did loose power off the line. Also your local muffler shop can make one out of 2 90 degree pieces, but they won't last long.
