Exhaust Question

Man about every truck i have owned has been straight piped and i have never noticed any problam of any kind the last truck i owned for 2 years and it was straight piped never had a problem at all........so id say go for it

Also if your CEL comes on, Ive heard you can program your o2's out.Did you guys know that it is very bad to let you truck idle for more then 15 minutes at a time because it couldruin your cats.If you don't cut your cats off, some tweeker will.If you cant tell I hate everything to do with catalydic converters.

I appreciate the help guys. I had a good feeling that he was BSing me because having a glasspack on is more or less a straight pipe with a few differences, and people do that all the time. Thanks

I love it. i have a 2003 and 2005 silverado both 1500 and both 5.3's i have straight pipes on them. i haven't came accross any problems. the only thing better that straight pipes is corsa exhaust the sport edition. i work at stylin trucks.com

Well I can tell you from experience, if you free up the exhaust too much on these trucks, your low end drops pretty dramatically. I did true duals 2.5" with x-pipe and my truck was slow till 2500 rpm. Milage also dropped off as I had to give more pedal input to hold speed on the highway. After putting reducers on the end my power is not much better. Ultimately I would like to do the same setup I have but with electric exhaust cutouts in the pipes that adjust based on RPM. Then you get great lowend and highend. I can tell you before the reducers, I had great highend power, but only used those rpms at heavy throttle. I still have good highend now.
