Default Exhaust Question

Ok i am curious to see or hear how some of you have done true duels on a 2004 or any of the same body style trucks. There is not very much room after the o2 sensor to cut the pipes so if anyone has done it and has pics or imput please let me know. I know i have been advised not to do that because of the backpressure loss but i am still curious of how it can be done.

There are some pictures floating around here some were. I seen them when i first joined the forum I tried to find them but had no luck. If I remember right the mufflers were turned on their side and sat next to each other.

My truck had two cats to begin with. i don't know if yours is the same, I have the 04', but is the 6.0 hd model. All i did was replace the stock barrels and put flowmasters. I just cut them and dumped them a foot after the flowmaster.

I would advise the same - you don't have the supporting mods to run true duals beneficially.

White_Noyez - here are the other pics you asked for. If you look at the back of the pic of the first and third pics you can see the cat on the passenger side. The middle is the first joint. Hope this helps.

well i cant really see it well in those pics, but did you have to get any pipes bent for it to work? or just cut the stock at the Y and put your own pipes right on?

the shop did it all for me , but it looks like from pic 3, that they cut the Y, right before they come togetherabove the crossmember. If you look to the far right of the pic you can see the joint. It is hard to get a good pic due to the crossmember in the way.

To answer your question as bestI can, I think they cut the Yas close as possible then ran the pipes with a slight bend to the inner pipe near the muffler. Then obvious bends after the muffler.

JB2004 I PUT MAGNAFLOW CATS AND TRUE DUEL EXHAUST TO TWO MAGNAFLOW MUFFLERS.
VERY SIMPLE CUT LEFT PIPE RIGHT APP. 3" OR 4" AFTER O2 SENSOR. RIGHT PIPE DO THE SAME.
REMOVE Y-PIPE ***.NOW RUN LEFT SIDE ACROSS TO RIGHT MEMBER BEND PIPE TO RUN ABOVE
FRAME MEMBER AND BEND AND RUN TO BACK.RIGHT SIDE RUN PIPE OVER MEMBER LIKE THE LEFT,
RUN IT TO THE BACK OF TRUCK(LOOKS LIKE THE STOCK Y-PIPE ,BUT NOW THERE IS TWO.AND
YES YOU HAVE TO LAY THE MUFFLERS SIDE BY SIDE TO GET THE CLEARENCE, THEN RUN THEM
WERE EVER YOU WANT.YES A BIG POWER GAIN. GO TO A VERY GOOD MUFFLER SHOP TO HAVE THIS
DONE.MINE EXIT SIDE BEFORE REAR TIRES WITH SS 4" TAPER CUTS SIDE BY SIDE EVEN WITH SIDE OF TRUCK
