I have a 2007 Chevy 1/2 ton with factory remote start. The other day I tried starting it remotely, but instead of the lights flashing twice and starting, they flashed once, I heard a click and then nothing. I then noticed the check engine light was on. I'm assuming something has gone wrong with the remote start, but wondered if any of you have had this problem and maybe a general price to fix. Thanks.

 

First thing I would do is take it down to an auto repair shop and get them to run a diagnostics and pull the codes for you. Most places will do this for free

 

Will the truck still start with the key? I'm expecting that the check engine light is significant enough to warrant the truck going into safe mod, consequently disabling the remote start. (my guess)
