I was thinking of installing pocket fender flares on my Silverado. Yesterday, a friend of mine told me not to. He said they almost certainly will produce rust on the under side of them. Has anyone heard of this happening?

 

Yeah, I actually saw someone pull them off of their 92 pickup and it pulled off half the fender it was attached to because of rust. Then again he had them on his truck straight for like 7 years or something like that.

 

I would stay away from them if you live in a climate where they put salt on the roads, a buddy of mine has a set on a 2003 s10 zr2 and when you look up under the fender flares it is nothing but rust. I think they look good but not worth the expense of fixing the rust all the time.

 

pocket fender? is that a fender flare?
