i just bought my 06 and found out it has the flex fuel motor in it can i still use all the normal performace bolt-ons from a 5.3L? and does anyone know how big the fuel tank is i put almost 23 gallons in it the other day and it was at a 1/4 tank it just does not seem right.

i have an 06 Z-71 with the flex fuel and it has a 26gal tank (ext cab model).

yes most every bolt on the fits a normal 5.3 will work with a 5.3 flex fuel. they are the exact same motor with a few modifications to the computer to recognize the ethanol and some upgrades to the fuel system because ethanol is more corrosive.

i have a k&n 63 series, 40 series flowmaster and a hypertech max energy. most programmers except for a special diablo predator do not recommend using ethanol fuel with them. other than that rock and roll.

yea the only company that makes a programmer for e-85 use is the Predator. i cant get it here in VA anyways so i dont worry about it.

Hypertech makes a "Alternate Fuel" performance tune that can be used with crappy gas and E-85, BUT Predator has one too and it is much better.

If you ever plan on running E-85, I'd do my homework. If not, just get a Predator and either uninstall the "custom tune" when you run E-85, or have someone make you a tune just for E-85, but then you will have to switch back aqnd forth from one tune to the other when you use 85 or 87
