Default Flowmaster

Im thinking of getting exhaust for my 5.3L. I want to go with a Flowmaster super 44, single inlet, dual outlet. Anyone have this? I am wondering how it sounds in relation to the 40 series.

My stock muffler fell off the oter day wile i was on the highway. I had a 400 mile drive in front of me and man it was loud. So I stopped in some town in ILL. I went to 3 places 1 was 8 hundred bucks the cheapest one was 425 for 1 ****ing muffler and labor. Anyway I asked about Flowmasters and the guy told me he can put them on but there junk and the wont last more than a year. Plus i will cost me alot more than what I was paying already. So I went OEM I messed up I should have just waited and put all new headers back.

There must be alot of people out there with so called "Junk" Flowmaster mufflers then. Not everyone could be wrong, huh? Flowmasters are nice mufflers. I have the 50 series on my 4.8Lfrom catback, and it sounds great. Mine go straight out the back, $400.00 installed, they bent the pipe and etc.

i love the sound of the 40 series flowmaster. had them on my k5 with the 350, uncle had them on his dodge with the 360, friend had them on his 2500hd with the 6.0, and i have them on my 5.3. sometimes its not loud enough and then again sometimes it is. just has a good throaty sound to it. but i would love to hear the 44 series to see.oh yea, ive got a single in dual out behind the wheels with 3" tis $375 installed all bent and welded pipe.

the only way a flowmaster will not last a decent time is if true duals are used, ive been told they way they have to be installed the mufflars are slighty turned up so moisture cant get out as easily so they rust through. correct me if im wrong

Yeah that muffler mguy was a jag and I got ripped off. On my 96 ChevyI had duals from the Y back and I think i was only like 250. I had a hitch and the tips went out the back at a angle.

I have the 40 series and I love it. Its loud when you get on the gas and quiets down while cruzin' down the highway. I have had flowmasters for multiple years and have had no problem with them road salt and all. They are the best peice "junk" I have ever bought. The only 44 that I have heard was a on a V6 ranger and it still sounded really good.

Guys... any "drone" sound on the highway with the 40 series? I'm in the same boat - looking for an exhaust for my 6.0 2500. I like it quieter just drivin around, but make some noise when I get on it. Deep throaty sound, but not too much.

I would defenitaly go for the 40 series. Not loud while cruzin' but will make some nice deep throaty noise when you get on it.

I have the dual 40s and it is not bad on the highway in the cab. And sounds good whenyou get on it.

And about duals and rusting from mounting issues, that is BS. They are sealed, so water can't get in them unless it somehow comes in at a poorlyconnected pipe joint. Also they are mounted level, so that gy has no ideawhat he is talking about.
