Default fuel filter

What is the difficulty in changing a fuel filter on a 98 sierra 5.7

I don't know about that, If its inside the gas tank its a pain in the a**. I had to replace mine last year ended up taking 8hours to do with the help of my mechanic I hope it goes better for you. also when you are taking the fuel pump out of the tank after you get all the strapping and hoses off its tricky to untwist it from the tank. Be VERY carefull pulling it out of the tank I broke the float that tells you how much gass you have left.

PS: take the gass out of the tank, if you don't it will weigh probaly more than you and it will be impossible to get back on to the truck.

The 98 has the filter on the frame rail...right under the driver

yep its on the rail midway on the drivers door.

87-98 it was opn the frame under the door....99-03 it was further up the frame,close to the engine....
about mid-04....it became part of the pump...not serviceable

maybe unversed doesn't realize most vehicles have 2 fuel filters. One in the tank and one "inline" outside of the tank.

maybe...but 05's and up have no filter to change at all
