Default gas gauge

Gas gauge on the panel flickers erratically and never measures the correct amount. How to fix.

I think you will have to get a new sending unit. Allot of the 99 and up GM trucks have that prob. I think there is another thing it could be but dont remember try and Google it.

correct me or not, but isn't the fuel sending unit in the fuel pump assembly? And isn't better to replace the whole assembly instead of trying to take it apart and reassemble it? I hard it leads to other problems, because the assebly is finicky?

I have the same problem. When I bought my truck ('01 Sierra)I purchased a warranty so I am gonna take it in and see if that is covered. Along with an exhaust leak. Good luck.
