Default Gear swap prices

I called around today to get some prices. And i got any where from $1100 to $2000.

The $1100 price was from 4 wheel parts has any one had any dealing with 4wheelparts.com? Thanks

4 Wheel Parts is a national chain. They quoted me $1400 for my gear swap.

Unfortunately, they are one of the few shops out here in the Bay Area, so most people go there ...I haven't heard of any complaints from any of the people who have gone ...

Who here would think i was nuts for doing a Locker rear with a gear swap? I'd be looking at $2000 and even more if I did a limited slip front diff. It would be sweet off-road and in the snow but shes a little older then some of your trucks.

A locker in the rear makes a huge difference, if you are planning on geras, then get it done, it is only the cost of parts to add it usually.

I would be just a little hesitant by the $1100. job. My guess would be that either they are using poorer quality parts or that`s the cost excluding any bearing and seal replacements etc. I had my 99 swapped to 4.10s 3 years ago and the cost was $1700 for EVERYTHING. And the drivetrain guy that I went to (recommended by EVERYONE in my area) wasn`t the cheapest nor the most expensive either. And yes...put in the locker or limited slip while they`re in there. The carrier isn`t that much more. My Eaton limited was only $400.

Hmm, I had 4wheelparts in Portland Oregon put on my Rims and Tires on my old ranger. I don't know that I would be trusting them to put in axle gears though. Just my opinion. Kinda like taking your car to pep boys for an engine swap, I wouldn't be real comfortable with that at all. Don't get me started on pep boys.

well i know the 4wheelparts in memphis does a lot of buisness and are well known. we've bought stuff for our jeep from them for good prices, plus my dad gets a discount, but they have never installed anything.

Im not a fan of Pep Boys either. When I worked in a garage they used to send over stuff that they screwed up for us to fix. The best part is they sold 18" and bigger custom wheels and for the first two years they couldn't even mount them so they used to send the customers to us.
