It isnt that hard to do it itl take you maybe 4 hours for the posi and the gears both and you can get gears for around 200 dollars or so and the locker for about 400. pretty much the jist of it is rasie the diff pull the pan off pull the driveshaft off and make sure to mark it on the shaft and the pumpkin then remove the pinion nut and count how many turns it takes to get it ouf so you have the same pinion depth then unbolt the carrier and keep the shims on both sides of it stright cus they are side specific sometimes and different sizes then take off the ring gear and install the posi then slap it back together and you good to go.. just a rough explainaiton though .... its about a 4 beer job...lol

I've helped in doing a locker and a limited in a Toyota. (I know I know but it had a chevy 350 in it!) We did a locker in the rear and a limited slip in the front. From what I understand that is the way to go as the limited slip will allow enough 'give' in the driveline to prevent binding.

blackhorse - why in the world have you had to change gears in the rear axle 6 times in 2 months? Were you just trying different ratios?

I would not reccomend doing it yourself without some real knowledge/tools..

If your skilled in measuring backlash and shims, and have a good manual..go for it though
