My 06 sierra came with the basic of basics radio. Meaning just that, just a radio. I recently boughta coworkers stock CD RDS radio that was from an 02 or 03 chevy pickup. The radiohas anerror code upon start "CAL ERR". Which I believe is justa code because the radio doesnt match the vin of the truck or something like that. And from my research has to be cleared by the dealer. Not a big deal because the radio works perfectly except for the problem outlined below.

My real question about the radio is that at night none of the buttons light up, the display works properly but nothing below that lights up. Does this relate to the error code, do I need another fuse do to the extra functions...??

yeah i have the stock cd radio that came with my truck and my bottons are starting to not light up anymore. its kinds sporatic tho...

 

I've had a few GM vehicles and every radio that I've had like that doesn't light up, I figured that's just how they were made.
