GMC Sierra Denali Tranny free play
Hi Guys,
I'm new to the forum. Anyways, I have a 2002 GMC Sierra Denali that I just purchased with 50K miles.
If I give the truck some gas while at a standstill or while moving, I feel the transmission clunk before it takes off.
It doesn't feel normal. I've never driven a GMC truck, so I don't know if this is normal. It is because it has so much power that it clunks before it takes off?
It feels as if there is some free play in the transmission. I called AAMCO and they said it may be a gas sensor.
I'm hoping somebody can shed some light before I take it to AAMCO. it just sucks that I just got this truck less than a month ago with only 50K miles and now i have this problem.
Thanks

no..its a slip-stick condition on the slip-yoke.
I assume this is 2wd?..if so,remove the driveshaft and put some type of waterproof grease inside the yoke.
if its 4wd,its more involved

Hi Argon,
Thanks for the reply.
I had my wife take it to AAMCO this morning and the tech said that this is a normal thing for the GMC Sierra. He said that it is just a "lazy relay".
Does this sound right?
Anyways, he said that he can replace it with a a corvette part and the clunking will go away permanently and it will respond like a corvette for about $200.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
