My 2005 Silverado with the Bose Premium Stereo with 6-disc changer won't play MP3s.....Imagine that! Our two vettes (one with Bose and one without) both play MP3s and yet..... I believe that even the base model (cheapee) Ford will play MP3s. GM won't loose a customer here but it seems like a no-brainer...... I don't want to put a custom stereo in it. Is there a fix? What CDS are you burning on? This will make a difference.
I Use CD-R by Maxwell. I had this problem before. I think that I used the CD-RWs and switched to the CR-Rs. You dont have to use this brand but its the ones that work for me.

Thanks...but...... I don't think that's the case cause I currently burn only to CD-Rs. Memorex CD-R recordable Cool Colors. 40x 700 mb 80 min. They're specifically for music; I use these vs. ones that are data/music cause in the past those always had alot of static and popping noises in the background and the only way I was able to eliminate that was to go to the cds that were specifically for music. No labels either.
I also went looking in the manual to see if GM listed the types of files that the cd player would read, but nothing.
The cd player recognizes that there is sonmething in it cause when you switch modes to show the song's elapsed time, it does do that.... but no sound. Odd.
Perhaps I'll contact the dealer and see if they have any bulletins out on it like they had with the C6 with Nav.

I'll also try another brand of CD-Rs.......

My 2005 Silverado with the standard sound system won't play MP3 either. Does your Owners Manual description of the Bose system indicate it should play MP3? I would check but the truck isn't here right now.

In case you're still having problems. I had the same problem, and it turned out to be the Memorex discs. I even had the discussion with tech support at Memorex. Their reply was "These things happen" and offered to re-imburse me for my used discs.

Good Luck
