Default Gravel Noise

When taking off from a stop I hear a gravel noise coming from below. What could it be? It will stop quickly after I accelerate.
CV joints?
Help!

I have a manual transmission in my 1994, and I have the same sound when I'm starting from a dead stop and going into first, but it only lasts for like 1 second. And only if I'm driving slow, or normal for some. When I punch it, which is most of the time, no sound. I think it's just the old plates fitting into place.

I talked to my buddy and he said it sounds like my throwout bearing is over heating or getting really hot. The damn thing is going on 14 years old, so I understand it having problems. I'm trying to get my hands on a Rockcrusher transmission and if I get, I'm going to replace my clutch system. So that'll fix the problem. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Cracker.
