Default Hazard Light Switch Replacement

Hi all I am new here first posting. My question is as follows: My teenage son has a 97 Chevy truck and he broke the hazard light switch off while installing a new stero and now the hazard light flash all the time unless you wedge something in to hold the switch.
How hard is this switch to change out? What all has to be removed?
Thanks in advance. I just found this site and look forward to reading many of the post.

Damn,I hate to ruin your night..that sumbitch is close to 300 bucks!
I have no idea of your tools/mechanical knowledge, but this is not simple....
It will involve disabling the airbag to remove it,and some special tools to change it out

Hey argon - isn't there some way to unhook some wires to bypass it? This would help them temporarily.

I called the dealership today and got a estimate over the phone and I was told around $225 plus tax.
I like the idea of disconnecting the wire to it. Can anyone tell me where there is a connection or fuse just for the 4 ways? I am offshore until Tuesday so I wont be able to look at the manuel to see if there is a fuse just for the 4 ways.

yup it should have its own fuse in the fuse box, a safety feature to keep them working even if the signals dont.
