Default heater/AC fan switch

Hi all,
My fan on my 02 only works in the 3,4,5 position. Nothing in the 1 and 2 position. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks
Don

You need a new resistor. Go to your parts store tell tell them the problem and they'll get you set up. Cheap fix.

yeah its a blower resistor its easy to fix my 03 needed one it took my 5 minutes to change it. Its on the passenger side underneath the glove box. it took me longer to find it than unplugging and plugging in the new one.

Smile blower control trouble

it could very well be the resistor, but that wasn't so in my case. i have a 97 sierra and the problem was a melted wire harness behind the blower control dial. the clip that goes to the wiring harness and the clip that plugs into the back of the blower control dial were both melted. this is a common problem from what i've heard. I went to a wrecker and got both pieces from a write off that weren't melted and installed them today, blower works on all speeds ... for now.
