Hey I'm new to the forums and don't know much about trucks. I drive a 96 GMC Sierra 1500 and am looking to upgrade the exaust. I don't need anything extreme, I just want my truck to have that deep growl. What would be the cheapest way to achieve this and how much would it cost? My only requirement is that it pass smog.

I have a 93 gmc sierra z71 and I went with a cat back system from summit race shop. I went with the american thunder flowmaster and it sounds mean!!the price was around 300.00 but call them for pricing. good luck!!! summits number is 1-800-230-3030

 

I was thinking about just getting a flowmaster 40 series muffler. Do you think just this will give me that sound?

 

kinda but american thunder is louder and a good throaty sound!!!!

 

Btw my truck is a 5.7 L V-8. Do you think the super 40 would make my truck too loud and if so, what else should I go with. And I would get a whole new exhaust system but I don't have the money for it and really only want the sound.

 

I went to a local muffler shop and he had a DynoMax he had taken back off somenes truck cause when he installed the muffler it wasnt loud enough for them. And he put a flowmaster on in its place.. He sold me the slightly used muffler and installed it for 50.00.

To me it sounds awesome. You can hear it under acceleration and it has a nice clean low rumble at idle but its not so loud that it drives you nuts going down the highway.. I am extremley pleased with the Dynomax muffler..

 

i had my exhaust custom made with flowmaster box, dual split side exit. its not too loud not too quiet. it rummbles, i like it anyways. roars wen u floor it thts for damn sure.

 

Hey I want to get a flowmaster 40 series but I was looking at my truck today and saw that it was a dual in single out exhaust. I was on flowmaster's sight and as far as I can tell they don't sell a dual in single out muffler, so what should I do or is there some to make it work? I don't really have the money for a whole cat-back system, but really want that flowmaster sound.
