Hey i have an 02 silverado 2wd with a 4.3. I wanna put a 350 in i was just wondering how doable is this? what will i need, run into, and what about inspection/emissions?

Considering how they didn't put a 350 in that year. I am guessing itwould be somewhat difficult

I'm not sure about swapping to a 350 on that year. Since you already have a 350 with two cylinders lopped off, you would be able to do the swap. Not sure about the difficulty, probably in the 8 out of 10 range. You might want to just stick with a 5.3 though. IMO, it would probably still not be fun, but anything is possible as long as you have patience and money. I guess you could always go carbureted...they are not as hard as fuel injection when doing a swap, but who wants to do that? I say stick with a 5.3 on that particular year model.

You'll run into wiring harness, motor mounting, maybe transmission mating. Not sure if the transmission from a 4.3 will work on a 5.3, assuming you've changed your mind on the 350.

I think if you still wanted to do the 350, wiring harness will be the major problem, since the transmission will bolt straight on. Motor mounting will always be adjusted. I know I've forgot a few more details but someone else will probably chime in and help out.

considering GM did not make a 350 in 02 the computer is worth less and unless you know a computer engineer a carberated engine is THE ONLY way you could go.....I agree with 98white5.0 a 5.3 will be ALOT simpler

Just an opinion - unless you've got real sentimental attachment to the truck w/4.3 (or you happen to have a built 350 sitting around collecting dust), might it make sense to trade up to a truck that's properly equipped? All the hard work has already been handled by Chevy. On that note, if you DO have a 350 ready to go, maybe pick up a truck that once HAD a 350 - transmission, suspension, driveshaft, etc. is already built for that size powerplant.

An old carbureted 350, 373, 400 would be much less work & much more fun. There would be some mounting work to do, but much less computer/harness work. Or you could probably find an S10 or Ranger with a small block already in it cheaper than doing the swap in your truck.
