I am trying to figure out if I can put the compostie headlights from the 90 model trucks on my 89 Sierra 1500, with the sealed headlights from the factory .

My overall goal is to have HIDs on the truck , and I have seen kits for replacing the bulb on the composite headlights with an HID ballast. If the composite lights won't work , can I modify CAREFULLY the sealed beam lights to install a HID "bulb" .

By modify , I mean cut/drill out the old light and replace it with the HID ? I figured I could use silicone to hold it in place once it is wide enough for the bulb to fit.

 

I have seen some kits or lenses for sell but Im not sure where. They are made to replace the bulb only instead of the whole light.
