high voltage.. Not An AC/DC song
my voltmeter is reading high
to high i think, and i have tryed 3
alternators so i know that the arent causingthe high charge
or at least i hope not i also have problems with a draining battery
but what can cause high voltage and a draining battery besides the alternator

put the voltmeter across the battery...should be around 12.6 at rest...start the truck,it should jump up to about 14.5
A REALLY bad battery could cause the alternator to have to "overcharge"...but you should be smelling that hot of a battery

well it turns out there must be something wrong with the gauge in the dash
it reads right when it's shut off but wehn i started it and used the multimeter
on the battery it went from 12 something to 14.3 then went down to 13 something
when the engine came down off fast idle

is there anything else that can drain a battery overnightbesides the alternator
i put in a new head unit i dont know if that could do it i take the faceplateoff it when
i'm not driving so the clock is not draining any juice... or it shouldn't be
