Anyone tried making their own side steps? Gotta be cheaper and better than the stuff I've seen, unless I'm looking in all the wrong places, as the song goes

The Ford ones suck @$$, but the GM factory ones are al little more money, but will last a couple dozen years if you wash em onece or twice a year. I think ours were like $300 and we installed em ourselves

 

I'm thinking about fabricating them from my own design. I'll post pictures if I get 'em done.

I made some for my truck. I let this kid at work take them home he said he would paint some cool flames on them. He got as far as to draw a picture for me but thats it. I gave them to him about 2 weeks ago he said he got started on them. I think I should give him a day off to do them for me. Im not sure if im going to even put them on yet they look real cool thow. But I got all the tools and machines I could ever need in this huge fab shop for the steel mill.

 

Got a picture to share? Also, where do you mount them? I thought I saw stock steps bolted to the vertical cab bolts

I have a buddy who did it. He welded them right to the frame and had everything powder coated. Looks real good, and should be a lot stronger than the onws you buy.
