Default Home Made Engine Stand

One of my roommates pulled the engine from his Cummins and had it on a normal (autozone) engine stand. It kinda made him nervous so he dicided to build his own. This is what evolved....

Needless to say this more than gets the job done.

I am planning to build one about half this size, that should take care of everything I would ever need it for.

Can you say OVERKILL!?!?!?!?! (Of course, I have been accused of that on more than one occasion!)
Nice work!

Yeah, it was built to handle a 2500 lb engine with a safety factor of 4 (WAY MORE THAN NEEDED) so it will hold 10,000 lbs before it breaks or bends. Overkill is almost an understatement in this case.

umm, maybe you should just bolt the front of your truck to that and make it a rotisserie

WOW !!!!!!!! I think you could mount a semi engine to that with out much worry (other than the bolts......hope they are grade 8)

Well actually that was the goal. He said that if he ever owned a semi (just for fun) that he wanted to be able to be put that engine on there and have it hold. The bolts are actually grade 10 so they are good for 30,000 lbs of shear stress. The weak point on this is by far the casters, and in my opinion he spent WAY too much money on them, $150 each.
