A custom tune or a Predator programmer, keep the tires inflated and keep up with the regular maintenance and tune ups. Thats about it man. Make sure you replced the fuel filter, trans filter, plugs, wires, etc... when they are due to be changed.

Also try and avoid stop and go traffic, the less you slow down the better. But the faster you go the worse it is, if you have to leave 15 mins early to drive 10 MPH less on your way to work then it may be worth it for you. When you do get stopped, roll into the throttle slowly!!!! Your truck should be getting best fuel mileage at about 52-58MPH. Stay between that if at all possible for the best fuel econ. Other than that, there aren't really any other tricks that havent been mentioned already on this thread. If you want more tips and tricks to increase your fuel econ and not spend a whole bunch of money, look up the Ultimate Free Mods list in this forum. Then search other threads about the same subject that you have just asked about. I have a whole list in here about this same subject. Good luck and keep your foot out of it!

The best tip I found was slowing down on the interstate I used to drive 73 on the insterstate and would always get 14 with my 1998 k1500 with the 350, now I keep it at about 67 mph and my last trip back home I hit 18 mpg with about 1,000 pounds of tools in the back with my mud tires on. Easy accelerations and coasting when you can make a big difference also.

You need more torque from the engine. Consider a 180 degree stat, TBIchips PROM and a spiral throttle body spacer. That will help, especially your highway MPG. Put a high flow CAT on if you can. I removed my CAT on my 91 and didn't get very good city MPG.

Keeping the tires filled up to their max pressure is a practical and easy way to have a better gas mileage.
