Does anyone know the size of the nut that holds the hub and bearing assembly on the front of the 1500 Silverado?

 

I believe it is a 35mm.

 

Be kind of floating in there? I can push it back in but it floats our actually past the edge of the hub. I thought I was very careful not to pull the CV joint apart so I don't think I did, but is this normal for the axle to float out past the end of the hub like that?

One other question, once I have all three bolts out of it, the hub axle nut off of it....how hard should it be to get the dang thing off of the stearing backer plate type thing?

I tried a two prong puller but felt like I would be doing damage to the axle if I went any hardre on it. This thing is just becoming very frustrating. Thanks for any and all help!!

 

Okay, I have finally beat the hub assembly into submission and it is off. My fear now is that I have screwed up the CV joint. How can I tell that before I put it all back together?
