Default HVAC Problem !

Hello All, My 97 Silverado has a few HVAC problems. First, It doesnt blow as hard as it used to. When I set it on max ac, it hardly blows. It blows hard on regular as without pushing the recirculate button. The blower sounds ok. Just dont blow very hard. Any Ideas?

Check under or behind your glove compartment. There might be a vacum line that is loose for recirculation. If it comes off, it will only blow through the defrost vents.

Look under the dash or check at your local auto parts store to see if your truck has a cabin filter. I just had a 99 truck that was doing the same thing and the filter looked like it had never been changed and was just about completely clogged. A lot of people aren't aware that those things even exist.

Oh yeah!!! I forgot to mention that. I had the same thing and would hardly let air through. So I second Shamrock's response.

Does the ac work. I had one were the evap core had a leak and all the dirt stuck to the oil on the evap. No airflow thru the evap core.

If it doesn't have the filter than you either have a clogged evaporator as already mentioned or there is something up with your blower motor. Does it sound like the blower motor is blowing harder than what air is actually coming out? The truck I had with the clogged filter I could definitely tell the blower was trying it's best by the noise, but the noise didn't match the air coming out of the vents - if that makes sense.
