For upgrades I love my Volant and edlebrock headers. See "christmas present" for details. Also great looking truck. I like that style much better than the 2007.

Yea very cool truck.Mine is a black 03. As far as mods, definitly do the headers, intake and a GRANATELLI MASS AIR SENSOR. I would hold off on the throttle spacer. You should complete your exhust/induction system first ( cold air-intake, mass air sensor, headers, performance cats, and performance exhust) When the exhust is complete, replace the throttle body itself. The ignition system on our trucks is plenty good so dont worry about that untill you do some serious engine and valve train work( heads, camshaft, etc.) Replacing the stock spark plug wires when this stuff is complete would be a good idea. I love to see guys upgrading their trucks with performance parts. Write down everything you want to do on the truck. That way you wont waste money on parts you wont use.For example dont buy a intake kit if you are gonna put a blower on, or waste the money on an expensive ignition system if all your gonna due is the Induction/Exhust system. Just my opinion. Hope I helped and feel free to ask anything. Talk to ya soon

GEARHEADRT - Do you think that the mass airflow sensor is that much better than just removing the screen from the stock sensor. It looks the same to me, there is ver little restriction. Or does the new sensor just have a wider range of reading.

SMOKE,
I hear alot of guys lately removing the screen. I have never tried it. There is lots of construction on the highways here in N.Y. and with the KN 77 series open elementI tend to get "mass air performance" codesoccasional.I beleive this is from dirt and dust getting threw the element and hitting the filiment in the air sensor. I put the stock sensor back on and still got a code everynow and again, so i dont think its the aftermarket sensor. (Atleast I hope its not, could be anything) I do notice the diffrence between stock and aftermarket though.

Taking the screen out is the best free mod you can do, there is a noticable difference without it. I took mine out the first week I had it and took it out of the Granatelli MAF before I even put it in with no problems. Have you cleaned your MAF? The K&N tends to come over oiled and I dont know about you but when I clean mine I want to make sure it is oiled good enough.

No problem, just pry the screen out of the groove it is in. While you have it out you might spray it with some brake clean to get the oil off, seams to work pretty well for getting any excess oil off.
