Default I GOT MY EXHAUST!!!!!

I just had a Mellow Tone muffler put on. It sounds fantastic! It cost me 95.00 installed and I think that I can feel a mild performance gain. the truck does run better tho. the guys sadi that some one installed a flex pipe just before the muffler and didn't clamp it or weld it at all. it was just hanging there. They figure that it was a recall or something that was missed but they fixed it and now the rattle is gone too!

In case you are wondering, Mellow tone has been around for a long time and mostly catered to classic street rods. they have a full line of mufflers for late model app such as mine. I would say go for it. I will try and figure out how to post a sound clip later![sm=wootwoot.gif]

it's the name. I put it next to my friends 4.3 GMC with flowmaster 40's and they sound almost identical.

the only thing you can find on line about them is the glass pack style. the muff shop that i used is alan's discount Mufflers in gainesville florida. He had a cut out one on the wall next to the cut out Flow Master 40 and they are almost the same guts too. he wanted 150 installed for the flow master. no sense paying for a name.

Hey just an exhaust update. I finally got time to adjust my reducers, and there was a measureable difference. My 0-60 dropped by .4 seconds consistently. So it is more proof that these engines do need backpressure. As a side note, I found that you can power brake these trucks and it gains about .2 seconds. Also the stock torque converter seems to be about 2100 rpm.

New, yet related question. The sound of my exhaust quieted dramatically today. Nothing is loose exteriorly, nothing changed, no performance difference except possibly decreased fuel milage, but not definately, I haven't had a long run since getting gas. It just seemed strange to have a sound decrease. I even though maybe somebody put something in my exhaust pipe.
